How to Yoga

The beauty of yoga is that it’s about making it your own and honoring your body exactly where it’s at, so come as you are. Our students come to us at all stages of their practice — from those who have never been on a mat to those who have been practicing for years. At Body Works Yoga all levels are welcome. There is no reason to feel intimidated, because we will guide and inspire you through this journey.

Yoga Etiquette

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to class start time if you are a NEW student. Returning students, please give yourself the time you need to set up and get centered before the beginning of class.

Please remove your shoes when entering the Yoga space.

Please silence or turn off your cell phone before class begins.

Allow yourself and others to begin the process of slowing down/turning inward by keeping your voice down before the start of class.

Neatly return all props back in their proper place.

If you must leave before the end of class time, please inform the teacher and place your mat by the exiting door. Also, if you must leave before Savasana (resting pose) please take 5 minutes on your own before departing.

Yoga Tips

Bringing your own mat is recommended. We do have mats available in studio.

Make it your own. Don’t worry about what the person on the mat next to you is doing. Listen to your body and relax into child’s pose when needed.

Wear comfortable workout clothing. You might want to go with something slightly fitted as baggy clothes can often get in the way of poses. You’ll also be barefoot.

It is suggested that you eat no sooner then 60 to 90 minutes before class to allow proper digestion. Breathing and movement will be much more enjoyable on an empty stomach.
